What verification means
Verified means the brand deposited real USDC into a smart contract escrow behind their lab results. If those results are proven wrong, the brand loses that money.
Progressive trust
Not all verified claims are equal. Three factors determine signal strength:
- Stake amount -- $5,000 signals more confidence than $50
- Time unchallenged -- Six months without a successful challenge beats yesterday's claim
- Lab reputation -- Check any lab's win/loss record on the leaderboard
What it does not prove
ProofLabel verification is financial accountability, not a health or safety certification. It does not replace FDA oversight, GMP compliance, or medical advice.
A verified claim does not mean a regulatory body approved the product, the product is safe to consume, or the lab results have been independently replicated. It means the brand is financially accountable for accuracy.
The role of challenges
Anyone can challenge by staking USDC and presenting evidence. An arbiter rules within 7 days. The smart contract transfers funds automatically. Verification is not a one-time event -- it's continuous exposure to scrutiny.
